Cholopancreatic by-pass
Cholopancreatic bypass is a procedure based on a similar principle to that of gastric bypass surgery. The main difference is that the length of the small intestine bypassed and therefore not used in the absorption of food, calories and nutrients, is significantly larger.
Consequently, there is no absorption of fat. As a result, maximum weight loss is achieved, however it is mandatory for the patient to avoid dietary fat intake.
In addition, the patient needs to be monitored for proper dietary supplements intake, without which serious health complications could occur.
Cholopancreatic bypass is therefore a kind of “ultimate weapon” against obesity, provided that the above-mentioned restrictions are taken into account.
